Become a FRIEND OF ROCKBRIDGE SWIMMING
The Community Pool depends on the hard work and generous donations of many people. We list below a few ways to help FOR Swimming improve and support our facility and programs.
The 2011 Swimathon will be held the week of February 14th.
This event, FOR Swimming's largest annual frundraiser, has generated between $15,000 and $40,000 in each of the past five years. This has been a vital fundraising tool that has enabled us to build a quality facility, manage continued upgrades and improvements and meet our loan commitments to the City of Lexington.
With a successful event this year, we hope to improve our heating system, add an environmental control system that will make our facility more energy efficient, suit spinners to the bathrooms and an additional set of bleachers to the pool deck.
Swimmers are seeking sponsors that can pledge a certain amount per lap or donate a fixed amount. If you would like to join us in this annual campaign to support our pool and its programs please contact Leslie Ayers at leslie@rockbridgeswims.org or Shannon Dryden at shannondryden@gmail.com.
Community Swim Lessons
Each spring, RCHS swimmers join with For swimming volunteers to teach the community's youth the fundamentals of swimming and water safety. If you would like to volunteer your time or sponsor a child for swim lessons contact Leslie Ayers at leslie@rockbridgeswims.org or Shannon Dryden at shannondryden@gmail.com.
2011 Duathlon
For Swimming's 6th annual Duathlon will be held on Saturday, August 13th. This event promotes fitness and family fun. All proceeds from this event go to improving the facility. See the LexRock Duathlon page for more information on this event.
The Rockbridge Pie Festival
The 2nd annual Rockbridge Pie Festival will be held on September 17th. This wonderful community event is sponsored by FOR Swimming and all proceeds from this event go to support The Community Pool. For more information on how you can particiate go to www.rockbridgepiefestival.org.
Kroger Gift Cards
When you use the Kroger Gift Card, Kroger donates 5% of the value of your purchases to Friends of Rockbridge Swimming. All discounts from your Kroger Plus card still apply so this is painless way to support the pool without costing you a penny.
Kroger has already donated over $15,000 through this program. Our goal is to get all of our members and their families and friends to use the Gift Card EVERY time they shop. Imagine how quickly the contributions would add up if all the pool supporters used the card all the time!
You can pick up Kroger Gift cards at the pool or you can contact Irene Townsend for more information at 540-463-3270 or wild@rockbridge.net .
