The new pool is located overlooking Brewbaker Field adjacent to the existing Lexington Municipal pool on land donated by the City of Lexington. The central location and existing infrastructure of parking lot, utilities and bathrooms make this site an excellent place to build a pool.

The original two-phase project has grown to three phases. Phase I is a rectangular 6-lane, 25-yard pool with a depth of 3.5 feet to 6.5 feet. This depth allows for legal and safe starts from the starting blocks at one end and standing depth at the other. Phase II is an Asati Air Structure ("dome") to cover it during cold weather, very much like a convertible car — the "top" goes up in the fall when the weather turns cold and comes down in the late spring when it gets hot. The pool's uniform shape makes it easy to cover with a "dome" so that it can be used throughout the fall, winter and spring, when normally it would be too cold to keep it open. The dome will be taken down in late spring for the outdoor pool season. The pool will be insulated from the ground temperature to help reduce energy costs during the heating season. Phase III will be a year-round pool house, with locker rooms, a community/team room, an office, the "pump" room, and storage for pool and swimming equipment. Phase III will include solar panels to heat the pool water.
